A Lunch Fit For Brewers

09 February 2022

It was a pleasure to welcome our Liverymen and their guests to a Livery Luncheon in the lovely surroundings of Grocers' Hall this week.

Fulfilling one of our key objectives, to provide a forum to foster social contact within the brewing industry and associate organisations, members of the Livery were accompanied by guests representing brewers, wine and spirit merchants, cider makers, maltsters, farmers, property specialists, investment consultants and pub companies.

The Master, Richard Fuller, spoke to the assembled Liverymen and guests about the work of the Brewers' Company, both with its members and also through its charities which distribute around £2 million annually to good causes. He also told them about Aldenham and Dame Alice Owen's Schools, both supported by the Brewers' Company, and the Brewers' Research and Education Fund which annually makes grants averaging £100,000 to support research in important subjects, both technical and social, relating to the brewing industry. He said: "As you can see we take our responsibilities seriously but we never forget that beer and pubs are part of the social fabric of our society and long may that continue."
