Beneficiaries' Lunch 2022

15 March 2022

On 10 March the Court to the Brewers’ Company approved (subject to audit) the distribution of £1,328,910 to the beneficiaries of the Dame Alice Owen Foundation – Dame Alice Owen’s School in Potters Bar and educational programmes in Islington – for the academic year 2022-23.

The distribution from the Dame Alice Owen Foundation forms a significant part of the charitable funds administered by the Brewers’ Company, which also acts as Trustee to ten other charities. The Foundation supports Dame Alice Owen’s School which in 2021 was named the top non fully selective state school in the country by the Sunday Times, and educational programmes in Islington including the Music in Secondary Schools Trust, Guildhall Schools Programmes, Upward Bound and Science for Life.

Following the Court meeting, the Master and Wardens were delighted to welcome representatives from the Foundation’s beneficiaries and Advisory Committee to lunch at Apothecaries’ Hall. Also present were representatives of some of the beneficiaries of the Company’s other charities, as well as some of the many people who make the Company’s charitable work possible, including professional advisors such as property and investment managers, accountants and lawyers, as well as volunteers who give their time to serve on advisory boards and committees.

The Brewers’ Company is only able to carry out its charitable work thanks to the generosity and support of a large number of people and we are grateful to every one of them.
