Reaching Young People During Lockdown and Beyond

Through the Dame Alice Owen Foundation, the Brewers’ Company is proud to be supporting Islington Council in the delivery of its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) strategy, providing children and young people with support to improve attainment in core subjects at school, as well as enrichment activities which increase their social and emotional competencies. We are very pleased to be able to share some videos of the amazing work that is being done with young people in Islington which has helped them throughout lockdown and beyond.

Philosophy for Children

Philosophy for Children (also called P4C), is an approach to learning and teaching which enhances children’s thinking and communication skills, boosts their self-esteem, and improves their academic attainment.

Music Education Islington (MEI)

MEI Music Centres are an ambitious bespoke music initiative aimed at improving the equity and standard of music making for primary school children across the London Borough of Islington.

Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST)

MiSST helps secondary schools that have disadvantaged and challenging student intake by providing not only funding for classical instruments but also support in the form of regular tuition, opportunities to perform and a programme of excellence that is unrivalled in the UK.

Company Three

Company Three is a theatre company led by the ideas of young people, making transformative theatre through long-term, intensive collaboration between young people and professional theatre-makers.
